TERRA!! Live recording at Avatar Studios NYC Piano: Maurizio Mastrini Author: Maurizio Mastrini … what you will find in this CD is a “unique” live performance carried out at Avatar Studios NYC! It is “unique” because in order to fully live my emotions and make the recording important to me it is important so sit on the stool really concentrated knowing that what I am going to express is what will come out that very moment when I play in a single breath with no interruption. I can’t think of having a second opportunity! The second performance is always “the second”!! Of course I need to try the piano a lot in order to record all the programme from the first piece to the last with no interruption. This is my way of keeping alive all the feelings and emotions of a live performance, the awareness of having one go to give my best. It is a mix of adrenalin, fear, heart beating, shivers, calculations, etc… Furthermore, in order to leave all that I feel unspoiled, I didn’t allow the deleting of the light environmental noises (the ticking of the fingernails on the keys, the pedals, etc.) nor corrections, nor cuts nor any other similar action so to offer you the best of my art. Hoping to reach your heart with my work please enjoy your listening Maurizio Mastrini The piano used for the recording is a Steinway &Sons grandpiano Recorded at: Avatar Studios NYC Sound Engineer: Anthony Ruotolo Avatar Studios Manager: Tino Passante Assistant: Charlie Kramsky Piano tuning: Ed Wedberg Mixing Engineer: Anthony Ruotolo Accordeon in Astor: Tiziano Chiappelli Percussionist and special effects in Milongamente: Peppe Stefanelli www.peppestefanelli.it Mixing Engineer Fuoco: Gabriele Ballabio for Entropya Mixing Engineer Milongamente: Stefano Bechini for Green Brain Mixing Engineer Astor 2: Andrea Valentini Aquarius Studio Produced by: Inir Tsam for MPC INTERNATIONAL MUSIC www.mpcinternationalmusic.com Artistic consultant: Andrea Valentini Executive Producer: Gabriele Principato Backstage video by Francesca Lolli Video editing and directed by Francesca Lolli Cover photo: Web Master: Alessandra Garzi Graphic work: Aqvarivs Studio Maurizio Mastrini wears: Anìssej Life Jackets designed by Massimo Vello for Bervell SrL www.anissejlife.com Panicale Cachemir Sweaters designed by Rosita Panicale www.panicale.com Promotion, organization and press office Gabriele Principato for gabriele.principato@mastrini.com Patrizia Ciano patrizia@mauriziomastrini.com Luciano Ferone luciano.ferone@gmail.com Aknowledgements A great thank you to Fabio Volo that has kept me company during my stay in New York with his book “Le prime luci del mattino” (first light of the day) helping me to lower the tension of the recording. A special thank you to William Mastrini Alessandra Ongarello who are the first to express their opinion on the pieces I’m working on, for their patience in listening endlessly to my pieces and for all the emotions they give me; To my parents Mario and Livia and then to Roberta, Mohamed, Nadia, Sarah, Soumia, Omar, Filippo Antonelli, Massimo Vello, Rita Favetti, Kimberly Richer, Chiara Poli, Fracesco Berardi, Laura Velardi, Elena & Maria della Te x Me eventi, Massimo Bassi, Elena Gentilini, Nadia Pasanisi, Diego Sciurpa, Eleonora Iaquinta, Denny Valentini, Pamela Magnani. My guardian angels from above Eugenio, Costantino, Nannina and especially my dearest granny Pasqua. I’d like also to say thank you to all the people that directly or indirectly helped me carrying out this work. Maurizio Mastrini is one of the most important pianist and uncontaminated composer of the musical and instrumental world panorama. His compositions are the linking ring between the standards of classical music and the new Contemporary Classical music, through a high and emotional research that fuses itself with dodecaphny in some parts, but without the harmonic hardness of it. Mastrini holds concerts alla round the world and the aknoledgment of his importance as pianist and composer on an international level arrived in 2009 with the publishing of his first album “Il Mio Mondo al Contrario” (“My world to the reverse”) . where he played classical masterpieces and original composition backwards. There came other two albums “Il Profumo della Musica” (“The scent of Music”) and “Contrario”. I know I am ripetitive, but this work too is dedicated to William. www.mauriziomastrini.com info@mauriziomastrini.com Maurizio@mauriziomastrini.com
